Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS) is located in the most picturesque surroundings of the lake town of Bhimtal. It is in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state. The campus is spread over an area of about 10 hectares of prime land. It is in Kumaun hills. Hence, it provides excellent environmental surroundings, ideally conducive for academic pursuit. The Institute is affiliated to the Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun (UTU). Hostel facility is available for all the admitted students.
BIAS offers three degree programmes approved by AICTE; namely:
- Masters in Computer Applications (MCA)
- B. Tech. (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
- B. Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering).
The Institute finds its origin in the educational and scientific research endowments of the G. P. Birla Group of Industries. Over the years, BIAS has developed into a preferred destination for many companies for Campus Placements. In the year 2017-18 about 90 percent of MCA Final Year students and about 75 percent B. Tech. final year students got prestigious jobs through Campus Placements. The Institute focuses on development of technical, behavioral, communication, spiritual and creative skills of its students.
BIAS has been recognized by the Government of Uttarakhand and Uttarakhand Technical University in many ways. Director of the Institute is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors/ Governing Councils of the following Institutions: (1) Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology, (2) Insitute of Technology, Gopeswar, and (3) Goving Ballabh Pant Institute of Techlogogy, Pauri.
