    Highlights of Activities in July, 2016

    • BIAS was rated as the Best Engineering Institution of Uttarakhand in non-government sector for the year 2015-16 by Dialogue (India) Group, New Delhi. BIAS got this award for the second time in a row. Prof. Bidyut Chatterjee and Prof. Sandesh Tripathi of BIAS received the Certificate and award at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi from the organizers in a glittering ceremony.   
    • Even Semester Final Examinations results for first year and final year were declared by the Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. All other results are expected soon.
    • White washing, painting and repair works in all the Hostels have been completed. Students would find their rooms and hostels clean and refreshing.
    • In addition to 30 Solar Street Lights already installed in the Campus during last two years, four more Solar Street Lights (9 W LED) have been installed on the Campus Road between the Main Gate and Boys’ Hostels.  
    • A Grass Cutter operated on petrol engine has been procured. It has proved useful in keeping the Campus clean.
    • Work on construction of boundary wall around BIAS Campus has been completed to the extent of about 90 percent.
    • Dr. B. S. Bisht, Director visited NIT Rourkela, BIT Ranchi and CIAE Bhopal during July, 2016. He delivered a lecture at NIT Rourkela, visited different labs including Nano Science, 3-D Printing, Mechanical, Production, Food Engineering, Bio-technology, Ergonomics, Libraries, Auditorium and other facilities. He also held discussions with senior officials for collaborative work between BIAS and the above institutions. He also participated in a Brain Storming Session on future research areas at CIAE Bhopal.
    • Training for Final Year students was held at BIAS by Career Launchers.
    • Yoga classes were held at BIAS for the staff.
    • Director presided over the Technical Sessions of the Workshop on Technology Enabled Education. The Workshop was organized by USERC, Dehradun, Kumaun University and Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani at MBPG College, Haldwani on 26 July, 2016. Dr. Ashutosh Bhatt, Asstt. Professor, BIAS also participated and played active role in organizing the Workshop. 
    • For the new Semester starting on 01 August, 2016, about 60 percent students have arrived in the Campus till 31 July, 2016 afternoon.  
    • As requested by the Vice Chancellor, UTU Dehradun, Director, BIAS served as Chairman of the Committee for extension of the term of Contractual Faculty at Seemant Government Engineering College, Pithoragarh on 24 and 25 July, 2016.   
    • Faculty Seminar was delivered by Dr. Ashutosh Bhatt on 30 July, 2016 at the Institute Seminar Hall. The title was “Recent Trends in Computing and Technology Enabled Learning”.
    • Dr. Shilpi Bisht has been assigned the responsibility as Warden Girls’ Hostels in addition to her existing duties as Assistant Professor (Engineering Mathematics) as well as Coordinator, Girls’ Counseling Cell.
    • Audit Report for BIAS for the FY 2015-16 by external auditors of BISR Kolkata has been received. BIAS had implemented all the suggestions/ observations of the Auditors for the earlier year. The Institute is committed to comply with the suggestions of the Auditors for further improvements. The Institute has also hired the services of a C.A. Firm for internal auditing of the accounts.
    • BIAS was awarded by TCS Lucknow unit for best success ratio in TCS conducted examinations during the year 2016. Prof. Nitin Chhimwal, Faculty I/C T&P was awarded as the best TPO by the TCS.
